Book Donations
Every book has the potential to change someone's perspective, spark a conversation, or become a lifelong favorite. If you have gently used books you'd like to pass along, we'd love to give them a new home at Bent Ear Books.
Your donated books help us grow our collection, keep books circulating in our community, and support our mission of creating spaces where people can slow down, connect, and discover something new about themselves or the world around them. When we read with curiosity, we learn to live with compassion.
Books We're Looking For
We happily accept gently used books that are:
-
Clean and in good condition
-
Free of mold, water damage, annotation, highlighting, or missing pages
-
Adult fiction and narrative nonfiction
-
Young adult and middle grade books
-
Children's picture books
We're especially interested in:
-
Local and Independent Authors
-
Pacific Northwest Titles and Settings
-
Diverse Voices and Perspectives
-
Contemporary Fiction
-
Historical Fiction
-
Literary Fiction
-
Women's Fiction
-
Mystery, Suspense & Thrillers
-
Grounded Dystopian Fiction: focused on realistic, sociological, or environmental futures
-
Narrative Nonfiction: within memoir, true crime, history, politics, science, psychology, sociology, travel & adventure, business, arts & entertainment, sports & human performance, food & culture, nature & environment
Please note: Because we like to feature story-driven, real-world narratives, we prefer donations absent of high fantasy, space opera, sci-fi involving aliens/space travel, or stories with supernatural elements including urban fantasy and magical realism. Additionally, we prefer to take books that only include romance as a secondary subplot within one of the more desired genres listed above. This does not necessarily mean we will turn away those genres entirely, it just means that when our shelf space is limited, we may prioritize taking books that best align with our shop's primary focus.
Books We Cannot Accept
To help us make the best use of our cozy, limited shelf space, we unfortunately have to pass on:
-
Moldy, damaged, or heavily worn books
-
Encyclopedias
-
Magazines
-
Reader's Digest condensed books
-
VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, or cassette tapes
-
Textbooks
-
Excessive duplicates of the same title
How to Donate
If you have books you'd like to donate, please send us an email telling us approximately how many books you have, the genres, and where you're located. We'll contact you to arrange a convenient drop-off or pickup if we're able.
Because we're a small pop-up bookstore with limited book storage space, we may not be able to accept every donation, but we'll do our best to find wonderful books a new home.
Thank you for helping keep great books in readers' hands. Your generosity helps strengthen our community.
