Book Clubs & Socials
One of the many things books can help us with is listening more closely to ourselves, to each other, and to the world around us.
Our book clubs are built around thoughtful conversation, curiosity, and connection. They're not about having the "right" interpretation or being the smartest person in the room. They're about exploring ideas together and making space for different perspectives.
You can find upcoming club socials and book discussions on our event calendar.
PNW Nonfiction Book Club
Founded in 2024 by Bent Ear Books owner Becci Carroll, PNW Nonfiction Book Club began as a small gathering of readers who shared a love of learning through reading nonfiction and were looking for community. Over time, the club has grown and gets together regularly, discussing everything from history and science to psychology, culture, current events, and personal growth.
In 2026, the club found a permanent home within Bent Ear Books, becoming the bookstore's first official book club and laying the foundation for future reading communities.
Whether you're a devoted nonfiction reader or simply looking for deeper conversations and new perspectives, you're welcome here.
Book Socials
Not every reader wants to commit to reading the same book or joining a formal book club. Sometimes you just want to meet interesting people, talk about great books, and enjoy good conversation.
That's what our Book Socials are for.
These relaxed gatherings bring readers together to share what they're currently reading, recommend favorite books, and discover new ones. Conversations often wander beyond books into movies, current events, travel, life experiences, and whatever else sparks curiosity. Books simply give us an easy place to begin.
Join us online or at bookstores, coffee shops, breweries, wineries, parks, and other welcoming gathering places throughout the Pacific Northwest. Whether you're an avid reader, an audiobook listener, or just looking to connect with thoughtful people in your community, you'll find a seat at the table.
Come prepared to share a book you're enjoying, or simply come to listen. There's no assigned reading, no pressure, and no expectations beyond being respectful and curious.
After all, the best stories often begin with a conversation.
Seasonal Community Reads
Four times a year, we'll invite our community to read a book selected by Bent Ear Books. Each seasonal pick is chosen to inspire meaningful conversation, whether it's a thought-provoking work of nonfiction, an unforgettable novel, or another compelling story that helps us better understand ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
Along the way, we hope you'll join us online, at casual local meetups, on our monthly video calls, or at our pop-ups and other community events to connect with fellow readers, share ideas, and experience the book together.
Whether you read every page, listen to the audiobook, or simply want to join the conversation and hear what others are saying, you're always welcome.

More to Come
PNW Nonfiction Book Club is just the beginning. As Bent Ear Books grows, we hope to create additional book clubs for readers with different interests, genres, and reading styles. Some ideas we're exploring include historical fiction, literary fiction, and themed discussion groups.
Our goal isn't simply to read more books. It's to create spaces where people can gather, share ideas, and discover something new about a book, about someone else, or about themselves.
If there's a book club you'd love to see, we'd love to hear from you.
